Week of October 10

We are studying Ch. 3 Human Body Systems.  We learned how to write notes on note cards last week.  The Ch. 3 test will be on Friday and you may use your note cards.  Study for your test.

Don't forget, I will pass out permission slips for our trip to Brookfield Zoo tomorrow.  Please tell your parents about our trip and the cost is $6.  We will need chaperones.  It will be a working trip.  We will take a class on animal behavior.  We will also be doing research on the trip.

Homework for the week of 9-26-2011

It was nice to see so many parents at Open House!

Science Class-Ch. 2 menu activities are due on Wednesday.  We worked on them in class today for 50 minutes.  Most students finished 2 out of the 3 assignments.  Our Ch. 2 test will be on Friday so please study this week.

Reading Class-Quiz on "Stop the Sun" is tomorrow.  Book report #2 is due on Friday.  We have studied story elements (conflict, climax, resolution).  We will read "A Mother in Mannville" this week and look closely at how an author develops the setting.  In Writing, we have been studying VOICE.  We will next study CONVENTIONS.

Week of September 19

Extra Credit:  If you happen to see the movie Contagion, please answer the following questions:
a.  What seemed to be common ways that germs were spread in the movie?
b.  Describe at least three kinds of technology you saw in the movie.
c.  Although this movie is fictional, many ideas in it are based on real science.  List three realistic science ideas/examples you noticed in the movie.

Reading-Wordskills p. 11-16 due tomorrow; we will be reading "Stop the Sun" this week in our textbook.
Science-labs due today; study Ch. 2 vocabulary (genetics, traits, gene, genotype, phenotype); I will assign Ch. 2 activities tomorrow.  We will decide in class if they will be due Monday or Tuesday.

Remember, Thursday is "Wendy's Night".  If you go to Wendy's on Archer and Laramie to purchase a meal, the proceeds benefit the 8th grade class.
